Movie Night

Source AE

I think that everyone has those times where all they want to do is curl up in some comfy clothes and watch a movie (or maybe more than one?). Coming home on the 8 hour flight from England I had enough time to watch three movies - all of which I thought would be great options for someone who is looking for something to watch whether it be a recent release or an old one. The other day I was also able to catch another film and I'll add it to this list because it was really cute and -- you wouldn't think it -- but totally inspiring.

At the top of the list I've got  The Other Woman

Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann star in this comedy about befriending your husband's mistress because she's the only one that understands what you're going through. It was the second time seeing this movie on the plane and it was still as hilarious as I thought it was the first time. It's full of humour, touching moments and secret sentimental scenes that will leave you wondering how a slapstick comedy could also be full of emotion.

Next Up Is Bridget Jone's Diary

As the opening scene began I instantly remembered how much I loved this movie (and it definitely got my mind off of the turbulence!). Bridget, played by the lovely RenĂ©e Zellweger, is a girl just like you and I. After becoming tired of her life she decides to start a diary and - thank god - we get taken along for the ride page by page. It's one of those films that makes you realize what really matters in life and how that guy that we think is perfect for us actually really isn't. Life is full of surprises in Bridget Jone's Diary.

Thirdly, I decided to include Veronica Mars

I watched this one on the plane as well and it was like taking a walk through memory lane. For those who aren't aware, Veronica Mars used to be a show on television about a teenage private investigator. Years later and a movie was made (thanks to the fan's support) and there's a few things I would have to say about it. For those that watched (and liked) the series, definitely give it a go! You get to meet up with all of your old favourites and see what life is like after high school. For those who never saw the tv show, I would say watch with an open mind. There's a lot that you'd have to read between the lines with (things that you wouldn't know unless you'd seen the show) and the plot is slightly on the cheesy side. I enjoyed it nonetheless though so if you're up for a mystery, check it out!

Last film is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Ben Stiller stars in a serious comedy (sounds a bit like an oxymoron, right?) about a man with a big imagination. Living inside his head more than in the real world, Walter Mitty imagines himself in various situations while pining after a girl he barely talks to. This film wowed me, it's one of those movies that you watch and you just think to yourself 'this is special'. It's a comedy with a serious plotline and while it makes you laugh, I found that it makes you think too. It's one of those films that makes you feel courageous - like you wanna go out and do what you always secretly wanted to. Definitely something to see!

Happy movie watching,
x Jenn

  4. Thanks for the Walter Mitty review! It didn't seem like my taste when I saw the previews, but maybe I'll give it a try now.
